Beach Conditions Report Upgraded to Provide Impacts of Oil Spill

The Beach Conditions ReportTM, was created by Mote Marine Laboratory in 2006 and provides up-to-date information about red tide impacts on local beaches.  It has expanded its capabilities to include impacts from the oil spill created when the Deepwater Horizon oilrig sank in the Gulf of Mexico on April 22, 2010.

There have been no reports of oil reaching any of Florida ‘s beaches.

The Beach Conditions ReportTM covers 33 beaches along Florida ‘s Gulf Coast from the Panhandle south to Naples (Collier County). Reports are provided by specially trained observers such as beach patrol officers, parks personnel and life guards. Reports are updated daily at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m and each is time stamped.
